__ 1. My child has at least one household responsibility (chore) to be done on time

__ 2. Our family has regular established times to eat, sleep, play, work, and study.

__ 3. School work and reading come before play, T.V., radio, or other activities.

__ 4. My child is regularly praised for good school work performance . . . sometimes in the presence of other people.

__ 5.My child has a quiet place to study - with appropriate books, dictionary, and other reference material.

__ 6. Members of our family have regular exchanges of conversation talking about such topics as hobbies, games, and other areas of family interest.

__ 7. Our family periodically visits museums, zoos, and other points of educational interest. These visits generally occur as a family.

__8. In our home there is an ongoing encouragement for proper speech habits. Language is emphasized in a variety of ways.

__9. At dinner or other family occasions, the family regularly talks about events with all children encouraged to participate.

__10. I have met my child's teachers, I know their expectations, and I am familiar with the books and materials being used.

-- 11. I know my child's strengths and weaknesses and give encouragement where needed.

-- 12. I regularly talk with my child about the future and the importance of advanced education.
